CodeWalker

CodeWalker (blancodagoat fork) is a free Windows desktop app for browsing and editing GTA V RPF archives. This build adds external YTD texture auto-detection for clothing and prop models, variant switching in the model viewer, and 34+ community features from the ItzDabbzz fork with rolling auto-releases from GitHub.

Use it to inspect assets (YDR, YDD, YFT, YTD, YND), edit map data, preview clothing variants, shrink oversized texture packs, and export to FiveM JSON or Menyoo XML. Requires the .NET 9 Desktop Runtime and DirectX 11.

The formats it opens are documented in the GTA V RAGE formats reference: RPF archives, resource files, clothing, and DLC packs.

YTD texture loading

  • Auto-detect companion YTD textures for YDD/YDR models
  • GTA V clothing naming convention matching
  • Texture variant switching via toolbar dropdown
  • Works for loose files and RPF-internal files
  • Manual YTD loading with RPF context menu picker
  • Diffuse override for clothing models (jbib, lowr, etc.)

Shrink textures and auto LODs

  • Shrinks oversized clothing packs: a folder or an RPF in, a drag and drop folder or an RPF out
  • Reports the exact memory a pack costs the game and names the heavy files
  • 4K and uncompressed textures become properly compressed, mip chains regenerated
  • Never grows a file; anything already sane is carried over byte for byte
  • Generates the missing Med/Low detail models custom clothes ship without, weights kept intact, no Blender needed
  • Mixed folders work too: any RPF found inside gets unpacked into the job
  • Find it under RPF Explorer, Tools, Shrink Textures

Community features (34+)

  • Undo for entities, cargens, path nodes, scenario points
  • Entity/archetype extensions editor
  • YCD world animations (wind farm, ferris wheel, UFOs)
  • Water refraction rendering
  • Menyoo XML export + FiveM JSON import/export
  • Global timecycle/weather XML editor
  • Audio REL editor
  • Geometry selection mode
  • Asset browser with text preview
  • Path editor with cross-file YND linking

Build

  • Unified build output directory
  • Rolling auto-release CI/CD on every push
  • More permissive RPF path validation

FAQ

What is CodeWalker?

CodeWalker is a free Windows desktop application for browsing and editing GTA V RPF archives, viewing 3D models, and editing map data. This blancodagoat fork extends the community ItzDabbzz build with external YTD texture loading.

What does this fork add?

Automatic companion YTD texture detection for YDD and YDR clothing models, texture variant switching in the model viewer, manual YTD loading from RPF context menus, diffuse override for clothing slots, a Shrink Textures tool that puts oversized packs on a diet and generates missing clothing LODs, plus 34+ community features and rolling GitHub auto-releases.

Can it fix texture loss from heavy clothing packs?

Yes. Texture loss on busy GTA V servers happens when the game runs out of texture memory, and oversized or uncompressed custom clothes are the usual cause. The Shrink Textures tool (RPF Explorer, Tools menu) reports what a pack costs the game in memory, downscales and recompresses the heavy files, and can generate the lower detail models custom clothes usually ship without.

What are the system requirements?

Windows with the .NET 9 Desktop Runtime and DirectX 11. Download the latest release from GitHub; no install wizard is required beyond extracting the build output.
